Dental Implants in Glen Rock and Passaic, New Jersey – Excel Dentistry

Dental implants are an excellent solution for replacing teeth that are missing or damaged beyond repair. No other treatment provides longer-lasting or more appealing results than dental implants.  A dental implant is essentially an artificial tooth root placed in the jaw, to which a replacement tooth or other dental restoration is anchored. Because the results look and feel much more natural than traditional dental bridges or dentures, dental implants are very popular among our Glen Rock and Passaic, New Jersey patients.

The Dental Implant Installation Process

The implant treatment process begins after Dr. Modesto-Garrido conducts a thorough examination of your teeth and jawbone to determine the extent of the damage and whether or not your jaw is healthy enough to accept dental implants without any additional support. Once this oral exam is complete, a dental implant fashioned out of titanium is customized to fit your mouth.
Depending upon your specific dental needs and the degree of damage to your jawbone, Dr. Modesto-Garrido will then perform the implantation procedure. If your jawbone is sound, then the doctor will surgically attach the implant to the bone, creating an artificial but effective root that will readily accept a new artificial tooth. Excel Dentistry also offers sedation dentistry options, so even nervous patients can get dental implants placed at our offices in Glen Rock and Passaic, New Jersey without suffering unnecessary fear or pain.
Once the implant has been placed in the jaw, the titanium implant readily integrates with the jawbone, though the process does take some time. This period of osseointegration generally lasts between three and six months, depending on the number of implants placed and your overall state of health.  Finally, once the implant is firmly anchored, your new replacement tooth will be fastened to the implant.  Among the types of artificial replacement teeth that can be anchored to dental implants are porcelain crowns and dental bridges, both of which can provide maximum long-term stability.

Benefits of Dental Implants at Excel Dentistry

Perhaps the greatest benefit of receiving dental implants is that implants do not rely on the support of surrounding teeth to sustain an artificial tooth.  Dental implants are the only tooth replacement treatment shown to help prevent the loss of jawbone material and gum recession that can occur due to missing teeth, and in fact they even stimulate bone growth.  Once dental implants are placed and your new replacement teeth or other restorations are attached, only routine care is needed — simply brush and floss normally, and be sure to visit Excel Dentistry for regularly scheduled checkups and cleanings.  Furthermore, while many dental practices must refer patients to an outside oral surgeon to place implants, at Excel Dentistry we plan and place dental implants right in our Glen Rock and Passaic, New Jersey practice locations.
