Orthodontics

Orthodontic treatments include traditional braces, Invisalign®, and other appliances used to straighten teeth and correct bite problems such as malocclusion, or improper positioning of the teeth and jaws.  Dr. Modesto-Garrido uses treatments such as orthodontic braces to amend misaligned and disproportionate teeth for her Passaic and Glen Rock patients, and she has achieved striking results with orthodontics for many people.
There are several reasons why correcting a bite problem is extremely important, not only to maintain healthy teeth, but for a person's general physical well-being and self-esteem. Bite problems such as malocclusion can put undue stress on teeth, causing them to move out of position and become crooked. Crooked teeth frequently interfere with speech and chewing and often detract from a person's appearance. What's more, a serious bite problem can result in TMJ pain, impair speech, lead to migraine headaches, and cause other similar problems. TMD, which stands for temporomandibular joint disorder, can be especially agonizing and lead to chronic facial pain.
At Excel Dentistry, our orthodontist offers effective, appealing treatments, including traditional orthodontic braces, to solve such problems for our Passaic and Glen Rock patients. Traditional braces use a combination of metal brackets and wires that are attached to a row of selected teeth for straightening. By regularly adjusting the wires, the tension between the braces and the wayward teeth is gradually increased so as to guide them into their proper positions.  Patients who have straightened their smiles with orthodontic treatment often follow up with cosmetic dental treatments such as tooth whitening or porcelain veneers.
In addition to orthodontic braces, patients at our New Jersey practices also have the option of straightening their teeth with the Invisalign® system. Please contact Excel Dentistry for more information today or to schedule an appointment with our orthodontist at her Glen Rock or Passaic office.

Invisalign®

Invisalign® is one of the latest advances in orthodontic treatment, and it is often preferred by our adult orthodontic patients. Unlike traditional braces, the Invisalign® system uses a series of removable plastic aligners to move teeth into place. The aligners are created through a multi-step process involving a specialized computer program. This program analyzes the unique structure of your mouth and designs the custom aligners to straighten and perfect your teeth over the course of several months' time. Because its devices are clear, removable, and often capable of working more quickly than orthodontic braces, the Invisalign® system is a very popular choice for our New Jersey patients. If you want to learn more about the cost and process of Invisalign®, please get in touch with our orthodontist serving Passaic and Glen Rock right away.

Bad Breath Treatment

Because bad breath has several possible causes, its treatment comes in a variety of forms. Some of the causes of bad breath include:

Treatments for bad breath often include a special anti-microbial mouth rinse. If your bad breath is caused by gum disease, Dr. Modesto-Garrido can clean out the pockets of plaque (sticky bacteria that damages the teeth and mouth tissues) that may have formed between your teeth and gums.
The team at Excel Dentistry also performs other advanced periodontal treatments. Combined with proper oral hygiene, these treatments can significantly improve bad breath odor. If you suffer from chronic bad breath, you don't have to rely on inferior, temporary solutions such as over-the-counter mouthwashes and mints. Please contact us to learn more!

Professional Cleanings

Having regular, professional cleanings is absolutely essential to maintaining your total oral health. With a professional cleaning at one of our New Jersey locations, Dr. Modesto-Garrido can go where a toothbrush can't, cleaning those hard-to-reach places and making sure that each and every tooth is free of plaque and cavity-causing decay.  We can remove any decay that might be discovered during your cleaning using our pain-free laser dentistry services and fill your teeth using tooth-colored materials that blend invisibly with your smile. During a professional cleaning, our patients may also undergo fluoride treatments, X-rays, and other important forms of preventative dental healthcare.

Gum Disease Prevention

Gum disease, or periodontal disease, is caused by bacteria that attack the connective tissue between teeth, creating deep pockets below the gumline where more and more bacteria can develop and spread. One of the most frightening aspects of gum disease is that it can go undetected for years without proper oral healthcare and regular visits with an experienced dentist like Dr. Modesto-Garrido. If left untreated, gum disease can lead to tooth loss and other severe dental problems, and what's more, gum disease has been linked to the development of heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and even premature and low-birth-weight babies. Fortunately, gum disease can be diagnosed during a regular check-up with a skilled dentist, and even nervous patients can obtain treatment thanks to our sedation dentistry options. Please contact Dr. Mayra Modesto-Garrido today to schedule an appointment.
